Meeting of the Russian branch of World Wildlife Fund for the development of national strategies and action plans for the conservation of the biological diversity of the Russian Federation and the preparation of the "Econet Commonwealth of Independent States"

October 27 – November 1 in the Moscow region took Interstate Conference of the World Wildlife Fund for the preparation of the Program "Ekoset CIS", which as experts from the Russian Research Institute for Silviculture and Mechanization of Forestry participated Mariia Palenova and Andrey Zhidkov.

About 80 scientists from the Russian Federation, the Republic of Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan and the Kyrgyz Republic met to discuss important environmental objectives - conservation of natural heritage.

At the initiative of the World Wildlife Fund experts and scholars have begun to develop a special program of the Interstate "Econet CIS." The purpose of the program - to keep the interconnected cross-border areas with the most valuable biological diversity in the territory of the CIS countries. Ecosystem boundaries do not always coincide with the state borders, for their effective functioning, it is important to develop international collaboration of research teams of neighboring countries to develop joint action for the conservation of rare species of plants and animals, to strengthen environmental regulation.

Working Group of Experts at the conference was designed structure of the future Program of action and identified areas that will be its object. Andrey Zhidkov spoke at one of the discussions with a brief report «Recultivation in the boreal zone».
